From Timber to Taconite 

Mesabi Trail:   A paved trail currently covering 75 miles and connecting towns from Grand Rapids to Virginia it is a walker-jogger-runner-bicyclist's paradise!  You can access the Mesabi Trail from many of the neighboring campgrounds and parks.  For further information, please click on this link.

ATV & Snowmobiles Trails:  Snowmobilers visiting the Iron Range will be thrilled with the more than 2,000 miles of groomed trails connecting Grand Rapids to Ely or Eveleth to International Falls. Take the Nashwauk Connection and cruise the local trails, or pick up the Taconite Trail for a marathon of fun in the snow!  ATVers will enjoy access to numerous trails in the area, including the Alborn Trail which is only minutes away. Hawkins Observation Pit: People who never saw the taconite mines in their glory during full operation are sure to be amazed when they look out over the Hawkins Mine site.  The Hawkins Mine was the first mine in Itasca County, shipping out 25-million tons of iron ore in a six decade period between 1902 and 1962. The observation deck is located at Central Avenue and 1st Street, Nashwauk.

Summer & Winter Recreation: The City of Nashwauk offers winter ice skating - figure skating and hockey - at the Nashwauk Recreation Center. Plenty of open space is marvelous for snow mobiling or 4-wheeling. Woods and paths for winter hiking, snow shoeing or cross country skiing. Our beautiful summer lakes are wonderful for swimming, fishing, and boating.  Several golf courses are a short car ride away.  We have two baseball fields, a football field, basketball courts, large playground and a beautiful City Park. 

Nashwauk RV Park:  The City of Nashwauk offers a great place for recreational vehicles, campers, and tenters.  With full service water, sewage, and garbage this is the perfect place to "park it".  Located on the same grounds is a lovely picnic area, showers, park, Veterans' Memorial, and a pavilion.

Hunting &Fishing: This area is known to offer hunters and fisherman a great getaway. There are, literally, thousands of lakes in the Nashwauk area stocked with Northern Pike, Muskie, Bass, Walley, and a large variety of pan fish.  It's also a hunter's paradise; offering excellent conditions for Deer, Black Bear, Ruffled Grouse, Duck, and Geese.
